The Performance Suit
It's a Richard James suit, but not quite as you know it. The cut is as precise as ever, but it’s undertaken with a laser, not shears. The cloth is 93% recycled polyester, and not wool or cashmere or linen or any other natural fibre that we normally work with. And, if needs must, you can machine-wash it instead of sponging it clean or (and we only recommend this for the most stubborn stains) taking it to the cleaners.
The Performance Suit is the result of our collaboration with premium sportswear brand Castore, and it was eighteen months in the making. The idea with suits has always been that they should be both practical and stylish. So nothing has changed there. But this suit takes the practicality side of things up a notch.
“It’s made of a four-way-stretch Castore technical fabric,” says our Design and Brand Director Toby Lamb. “Which means it is incredibly comfortable to wear. And the bonded finishing, internally taped seams and press-stud cuffs add to the lightness. It’s also water-repellent and breathable. The suit as we know it today was devised nearly two-hundred years ago to be worn on horseback, but The Performance Suit works as well on a bike. So, it’s very much a suit for today.”
The Performance Suit is available at the Savile Row, Park Avenue and online stores.
