Tokyo Calling
Our new AW19 Tokyo Calling calling collection is arriving in-store on Savile Row and online now.
If you'd like to know more about it, below is the theme, the traditionally overwritten words that explain what a collection is all about, from key cultural references to fabrics, the overall feel and the colour palette.
Our AW19 collection buzzes back to bustling, boom-town Tokyo of the ‘80s and a scintillating, super-synthesized fluoro-washed scene of hi--tech innovation and expeditious evolution.
This is a sharply focused, colourfully kinetic collection that encapsulates Japan’s compelling capital city at its most potent and portentous.
Stinging cityscape accents of neon pink, lime green and turquoise are set off by softer, derivative base colours of burgundy, deep green, East Sea blue and concrete grey.
Principal, punctuating circuit board and origami prints introduce 18th-century woodblock-era Japan to its modern, pointedly graphic Walkman-wed latter-day metropolitan successor, appearing on shirts, pocket squares, ties and cashmere silk scarves.
Dialed-down boucle degrade knitwear adds teasing texture and reassuring warmth, which is further accentuated with Geelong bombers and honeycombe knits, and padded Nehru jackets and super-soft suede shirt jackets
Tailoring features a new, wide-lapelled and of-the-era double-breasted jacket and fully cut, tapered-at-the-ankle trousers. Outerwear introduces an equally epochal oversize belted Raglan-sleeve coat. Jumbo birdseye and dogtooth and big evening-orientated digital motif jacquards add a sharply graphic edge.
Join us as we marvel at and immerse ourselves in the ultimate metropolitan maelstrom.
