Toby's Winter Picks
Our Design and Brand Director Toby Lamb picks three key pieces from the AW24/25 collection that will serve you well this winter.
Velvet Evening Suit
This deep orange-red velvet is just so rich, louche and indulgent. The all-cotton velvet is from our usual supplier in Italy, so it’s perfectly plush too. Nights when evening dress is required can be long and arduous, and traditional evening wear has always been a little bit buttoned up and on the hot and restricting side. But this suit is different. The natural, unpadded shoulder makes it really light and easy to wear. And that colour really comes alive under the lights.
Dip-Dyed Roll Neck
Hand-knitted in Wales and then individually dip-dyed, again by hand. Each one of these six-ply lambswool roll necks is unique. And completely natural and sustainable too – just wool and vegetable dye. Simply beautiful pieces.
Zip Blouson
I love the practicality of this piece (pictured, top). It has two pockets on the inside, two on the hip to slip your hands into, and two with press studs at the front. Men like pockets, but it’s sometimes difficult to accommodate them in a jacket because they tend to spoil the silhouette. But this jacket achieves it perfectly, because it’s cut just so and the dogtooth wool cloth drapes beautifully. The shearing collar and padded satin lining make it wonderfully warm too.
