Selfridges Spot Suit
It started as a tie silk; one of a series of oversize prints, a giant dogtooth being another one. And, then, thinking that it might work for Elton (a customer since day one) on a slightly larger scale, Richard asked him if he'd like a suit made out of it. And, for symmetry's sake (what else to wear with it?), a shirt and a pocket square.
Elton ended up wearing the outfit at the 2001 Grammys for his famous duet of Stan with Eminem and, interestingly, for an advertisement in the States for milk in December 2000 (below).
And now you can wear it too. Selfridges in London has a limited edition of the same spot suits on sale at Elton John at the Selfridges Corner Shop, which celebrates all things Elton ahead of his final Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, and features some stunning archive outfits, one-hundred signed copies of the forthcoming Honky Chateau 50th Anniversary album, and more great limited-edition Elton product.
