An early, if not the earliest, incarnation of what has become a men’s style staple: the classic, understated, high-end sneaker. Tretorn is the cult Swedish name behind the Nylite, the iconic tennis shoe that Bjorn Borg covered the court in throughout his Seventies heyday. And the Richard James Tretorns were dubbed 'the best trainers in the world' by Esquire when they were released in 2004. “The idea behind the collaboration was to make a trainer for grown ups,” explained Richard James co-founder Sean Dixon on their release. “A trainer that looks good and feels fantastically comfortable.” Made of a super-supple calf leather and in just one vintage white shade, the Savile Row store sold out of them within days.
